It is important to create a rapport and positive impression right from the start of the show. Welcome and thank each individual visitor for coming to see you and your exhibition stand. Smile, maintain eye contact and shake hands. Make them feel at home, don't be pushy.

Let your visitors know that you are interested in helping them to solve their challenges. A powerful way to do this is to ask questions to reveal their needs, beginning with who, what, where, when and how.

Relate the questions to the industry and if possible, your products and services and their benefits or a specific situation. Find out who you are talking to and where they are from - don't rely on name badges!
